Though the government of Kenya is providing free primary education since 2003 to public schools, many children are still not accessing it due to many challenges such as traditional beliefs of some
communities, children taking the responsibility of providing food for siblings after AIDS related deaths of
their parents, and high level of poverty has made it more difficult to meet even the basic needs.

According to the government of Kenya, 62% of Kenyans are leaving below one U.S Dollar per day this is obvious that the guardians/parents cannot afford even school uniform which is a compulsory requirement upon admission. Despite many organizations supporting a good number of orphans and vulnerable children with uniforms and other essential requirements in schools, they are also overwhelmed by the daily growing numbers of orphans which according to UNICEF are now 1.5 millions.

Goal #1:- Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
• Reduce by half the proportion of people living on less than a dollar a day
• Reduce by half the proportion of people who suffer from hunger
Goal #2:- Achieve universal primary education Ensure that all boys and girls complete a full course of primary schooling
• Ensure that all boys and girls complete a full course of primary schooling

The above two vital goals may only be achieved through combined efforts of all stakeholders in education including Civil Society Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, Non -Governmental Organizations, Community Based Organizations and Private sectors with realistic strategies and approaches to achieve the first 2 Millennium Development Goals and Here’s Life is striving to provide this with very limited resources and this is where the organization requires more support.
